Social Sign On

Helix allows users to link their Helix account with their social media accounts, such as Google or Microsoft, to simplify the login process.

Supported Social Sign On Providers

Helix supports the following social media providers for Social Sign On:

  • Google (coming soon)

  • Microsoft (coming soon)

  • Discord

Visit the Helix Identity: Social Logins page to link your social media account to your Helix account.

  • Each available provider will be listed on the Social Logins page. Click Select next to the provider you wish to link

  • A pop-up will appear with the provider's login page. Enter your credentials and follow the on-screen instructions to provide Helix with the necessary permissions

    • Generally speaking, we only request your name and email address from the provider. We may also request your profile picture, depending on the provider: this is solely for display within Helix and is not shared with other users and is used to personalise your experience

  • Once you have successfully linked your account, you will be redirected back to the Social Logins page, where you will see the provider's status show Connected. You can now use this provider to log in to Helix by clicking the provider's icon on the login page

Provider Features

Discord

Many Helix organisations have affiliated Discord servers. By linking your Discord account to Helix, your roles in Helix can be automatically synchronised with your roles in the Discord server, granting you permissions within the Helix application corresponding to your roles in the Discord server.

The Helix Discord Bot will automatically update your roles every 10 minutes, ensuring that your permissions are always up-to-date. If you need your roles updated sooner, most installations of the Helix Discord Bot allow you to run a /synchelix command in the Discord server to update your roles immediately. This will only update your roles in Helix if you have linked your Discord account to Helix.

If an organisation has not linked their Discord server to Helix, the Discord integration will not be available to users within that organisation. Speak to your organisation's Helix administrator to request that they link the Discord server to Helix.
